Accessibility Statement
Everyone is welcome at Mex Taco House, in the restaurant and on our website.
Our commitment
Mex Taco House is committed to making mextacohouse.com usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or voice control. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA (opens in new tab).
What we have done
- Every page has a skip link, a main content landmark, and labelled navigation regions.
- Keyboard focus is visible on every link, button, and control.
- Buttons and links that only show an icon have descriptive names, and links that open a new tab say so.
- Headings follow a logical order, and the menu lists dish names and prices as real text.
- Text colours meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio for normal text, and text over photos and video sits on a dark backdrop.
- The background video, the scrolling announcement bar, and the rotating reviews and news all have a pause control and stop automatically when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Touch targets are at least 24 by 24 pixels.
- We do not use an accessibility overlay widget. We fix problems in the code instead.
Known limitations
We review the site regularly, but some content is outside our direct control or still being improved:
- Online ordering is handled by DoorDash and Uber Eats on their own websites. If you have trouble ordering there, call us and we will take your order by phone.
- Maps and social media embeds (Google Maps, Instagram, Facebook, Yelp) are provided by those companies and may not fully meet WCAG 2.2.
- Event flyers are images. We repeat the event details as text next to each flyer and in the alternative text, but the artwork itself is not accessible.
- The background video on the home page is decorative and has no audio or captions. It can be paused.
